News about Politics and Policy

October 19, 2005

Dear Associate Editors:

Politics & Policy will be under new editorship effective with Volume 34 (2006). Drs. Emma Norman and David Mena at the University of the Americas in Puebla, Mexico have been selected as editors by the Policy Studies Organization; the agreement was signed on October 10th. This change in editorship and institutional underwriting is consistent with the long-term direction of the journal as an emerging international and commercially viable publication.

I have recommended that Emma and David -- along with David Merchant from PSO -- meet with you as a group at the Southern in Atlanta in January. They have agreed and are enthusiastic about the meeting. They also have expressed an interest in inviting all Board members to continue service in the New Year. These are positive steps that I hope you will welcome. I ask that you come to the meeting and give their offer every consideration.

The evolution of the journal has been neither organic nor inevitable. At each step in the metamorphosis from state to regional to national to international journal, you have contributed your valuable time and considerable talents. It is also important to recognize that Georgia Southern University and the participating state political science associations have generously supported financing our efforts. Thank you for always being there when the journal needed you. It is and always can be your journal.

Best wishes,

George
